Tregaron stands in the shadow of the Cambrian Mountains, it is one of the six main market towns of Ceredigion and twinned with Plouvien, in Brittany, since 1999.
The Town Council is accountable to the people of Tregaron and has a duty to represent the varied interests of the community equally.
Meetings are held monthly, on the third Monday, with the exception of August, at 7.30 pm in the Memorial Hall.
There are no wards and eleven Councillors are elected to the Council every four years. The annual general meeting is held in May, when a Chair and Vice-Chair are selected.
A Clerk is employed to conduct the business of the Council, as well as a part-time worker and an occasional worker, responsible for the public toilets in Station Road, and the closed cemetery of St. Caron’s Church.
Every year, there is an opportunity for numerous organisations in Tregaron, to apply for a grant towards their activities.
The number of voters on the electoral role for Tregaron are 982.
